Another NUS cluster event!!!
Foodie Amazing Race

9.30am: Gathered at Outram MRT station

10.00am: Briefing by Joe before we begin on our RACE! The whole NUS cluster are dress in different colours. And needless to say. Brown RuleZ! (NUS Biz/Law CG's colour) Heez

All engross in the handout!

Joe looks like he is really really serious about the briefing

10.00am to 12.30pm: We were given 2hrs 30min to complete the race. Our first stop was at the Temporary Market Place near the MRT station. Let's check out what were in store for us!

(1) Temporary Market Place at Outram

I can't remember the stall name. If I am not wrong, both the Chee Chong Fan and Yam cake should be from the stall Jin Xiang or somewhere along the line. Heez

Chee Chong Fan

Yam Cake for $1 (Yummy!)
Rating: @@@@*
For your info, I bought $2 back home haha. Of cos good stuff have to be shared with ur mummy right!!

Hong Kong Mong Kok Dim Tim
Rating: @@@@
(Pricing is rather reasonable, 3 pieces for $1.50, I love the Siew Mai- really good!)

Look at Gene's face and you will know how I feel too. 3 bucks for a cup of pearl?! (To be use for Pearls' war) I shall not mention the name of the stall but Hmmmm I guess it's the only stall that sell bubble tea at the Temporary Market Place though heez

Rating: -

(K maybe I shouldn't be that mean, credit should be given to the elasticity and stickiness of the pearls which stick to the back, front, left, right (you name it) of the whole cluster (or most since there are some pple hiding in one corner pretending that they are not part of the NUS cluster during the war. *hmmm* I am one of them lolx)

Freshly squeezed Lime Juice from Nan Fa hot and cold drink stall
( can you believe that a cup of Lime juice is make up of 30 limes) Power! All for $1.20 a cup. You have to try it to believe it!
Rating: @@@@

Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Foo
Rating: @@@*
(Super long queue but I guess it's worth the wait)

Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice
Rating: @@@*
(You can choose to have your sweet or salty, recommendation? Mixture. At $1 a plate, what are you waiting for? Just looking at the pairs of chopstick that we took alone cost more than 50cents. heez)

Okie after the makan, it's time to do some LABOUR- to burn off those calories that we consume just minutes ago! (Eventhough I doubt it will really burn off those fat) Beansprouts anyone? Well since Biz/Law people are well-known for being patient and skillful with their hands, how difficult can that be for us right?

Look at our happy faces!!
John can't even stop plucking the beansprouts to posh for the camera and why do I have the feeling that Joe is glaring at those beansprouts that I have just plucked. Do they really look that bad?

Hard at work! We are serious about it! SERIOUS!~

Joe: "No more posing for camera, building the beansprouts business is more important!"
Gene, Grace, Ming You: "Yes, Sir!"

(2) Chinatown street
We have three dishes along the way but I guess we were too busy gorging the food that we forgot to take any proper photo heez. We have 2 pots of frog legs porridge($8 per pot), kolo mee ($5.90 per bowl, with prawns, vege, minced meat, wanton and char siew) and Tiong Bahru Boneless Hainanese Chicken Rice (Eh haha dunno leh- should be $3 i guess).

Well eventhough we do not have the proper photo for the food but I am sure you guys wouldn't mind looking at photo with us happily enjoying those yummy food right???

Claypot Frog Porridge
(From WeiMing's facial expression, I guess he isn't really fascinated with the porridge)

You think life is easy for us judging from the above photo!?

Nahz! They are never this nice to us! heez! Read on to find out....

HERBAL TEA CHALLENGE
You think you have tried the worst herbal tea in the world? Hang on a minute! Wait till you tried this!

Don't get cheated by their nice packaging. The taste still linger in my mouth now at the thought of it!

WeiMing Speech:

Before drinking--> What so difficult about it? Not bitter at all lah! Come I drink!

After drinking-->Face all scrambled up! Ewww!!! I am never going to touch this thing again!

=End of Speech=

Do you feel the torture now of having to finish 2 bottles of herbal tea?

Yup! Kenny's face says it all. DEFINITELY NOT JOE's FACE!! (He is smiliing cos he manages to con Kenny in finishing the whole bottle! haha~ Joe pls dun kill me when u see this!)

12.30pm-2.00pm: Time to get back to the starting/ending point. We were 20 mins late. So if we were to get a deduction of 5 marks for each min of lateness, we will have a total deduction of 100marks. And if we were to consider that we only managed to clock 60 marks for the whole race, that will make a total of -40marks. haha. Well, I guess we are definitely better off at the very start when we still have 0mark in our account. Wellz. We can always try to win back some point at the last challenge: Pearls War

Get your weapons ready!

Aim!

Attack!

Aftermath of the war!

Nearing to 2pm. Mark the end of The Foodie Amazing Race! Soldiers from different faculties were tired with bodies battered. (Though I kind of pity the grass more for being trampled on!!) Nonetheless, that did not dampen our spirit for more photo-taking sessions! Look at our radiant smiles and you will never guess that we have all been under the scorching sun for more than 4 hours.
Over!

Well seriously I have no idea what they are trying to do haha but I am advertising for my baby tissue wipe! Super handy!

Free the Dolphins

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone mentioned the word "Dolphin"?

Friendly creatures? One of Earth's most intelligent animal? Sociable creature?

Dolphins have always left a positive impression in me. Neither are they sadistic or hideous -(toad/frog, my major fear!) . In fact, they are always depict as the friendly creatures in movies or shows such as Flipper, who always get along so well with the human mankind. They are just so incredibily adorable that one might even get tempted to have a Dolphin as a pet! (That's beside the point - of cos we can't but we can always adopt one! visit this link: http://www.marineconnection.org/adopt_a_dolphin.html)

Not long ago, I came across an email titled: Stop the dolphin and whale killings in Taiji. I did not give it much thought at first and it took me close to another week before I finally click on the mail to read more. After watching the short video attached to it, it doesn't take me long to realise that I too should play a part in saving the lives of these helpless creatures who are being killed inhumanly in somewhere not far aways from where I am right now.

I know some of you out there might be thinking that all these are just parts and parcels of life. Animals are meant to be killed to satisfy our palate. Isn't that how all the lives of the other animals are meant and decided to be when they were born or even much earlier. (when their parents were being bred and fed to produce offspring for sales) But let's try looking at this from another angle. Are there not enough variety of food out there to satisfy our stomach in today's world? Human is one of the most fortunate living things in this world. We have much more than we could ever ask for and yet we are always seen complaining of how we are forever lacking in certain areas in our lives. When can we ever get satisfied with our lives? Sadly the answer by the majority is "Never".

I sincerely hope that after watching this video clip, it will change the way you felt about the killing of Dolphin and Whale. (Hopefully for the better)

How do you feel after watching the clip? Do you feel the same way as I did? We can all do our part for these poor creatures now. Be part of the petition to free these lovely creatures that are supposed to be roaming freely in their habitat. http://www.petitiononline.com/golfinho/petition.html
